Page Command - Page Command is a companion product to PageR that provides a network-wide command line interface to send text messages. An unlimited use license is now considered a part of all current PageR licenses. Page Command is a trademark owned exclusively by AVTECH Software with all rights reserved.

PageR - The name of PageR (with a capital R, although pronounced the same as pager) is the abbreviated product name for PageR Enterprise. The shorter name is used throughout this manual for easier reading. Both PageR and PageR Enterprise are trademarks owned by AVTECH Software with all rights reserved.

PageR Enterprise - The name of PageR Enterprise is the proper and full name for PageR (see above), AVTECH Software's product for network-wide server, device & event monitoring with full alerting and automatic corrective action capabilities.

Paging File - A paging file is a simple text file, typically referred to as a message (.msg) file/script, containing AlertScript for the Message Server or modem to use in dialing out to a paging service. AlertScript controls alphanumeric paging function to perform text paging. A paging file can also contain modem commands for simple modem paging. Pages are executed by copying the paging file to the attached Message Server or modem. PageR’s paging files have a ‘.msg’ extension by convention.

Performance Counter - A Windows operating system measurement value associated with an ‘object’ in the operating system like logical disk, physical disk or memory. Windows records performance and operational statistics into counters that describe the operation of Windows and the object being tracked. These counters can be retrieved and evaluated by PageR to determine the performance of a system. Performance counters are located differently within Windows NT and Windows 2000 and often vary from system to system.

Ping - This is a low level ICMP echo function used to determine if a TCP/IP host is available. This is a very basic check for system or server availability.
