{"id":11182,"date":"2018-05-31T15:50:40","date_gmt":"2018-05-31T19:50:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/?p=11182"},"modified":"2025-01-06T12:59:07","modified_gmt":"2025-01-06T17:59:07","slug":"disable-network-adapters-windows-computer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/11182\/disable-network-adapters-windows-computer\/","title":{"rendered":"How To Disable Network Adapters On Your Windows Computer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You may need to connect your Room Alert Monitor directly to your Windows computer for troubleshooting purposes if you are experiencing one of the following issues:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your network is not DCHP-enabled, and you need to discover and then set a static IP on your Room Alert Monitor.<\/li>\n<li>You are having difficulty discovering your Room Alert Monitor and other advanced methods have not worked.<\/li>\n<li>You are having issues loading the Room Alert Monitor&#8217;s <em>Status<\/em> or <em>Settings<\/em> pages that other troubleshooting methods have not resolved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Before you connect your Room Alert Monitor directly to your computer, you&#8217;ll need to disable all of your network adapters except for the one the Room Alert will use. Doing so prevents AVTECH&#8217;s Device Discovery utility, used to discover your Room Alert, from scanning those other networks.<\/p>\n<h4>Disabling Network Adapters<\/h4>\n<h5>To disable your computer&#8217;s network adapters\u2014other than the one your Room Alert will use\u2014please follow these steps:<\/h5>\n<p>1.&nbsp;Open the <em>Network and Sharing Center<\/em> on your computer<em>.<\/em>&nbsp;In Windows 10, you may open it by navigating to <strong>Start<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2192 <strong>Windows System<\/strong>\u2192&nbsp;<strong>Control Panel<\/strong>\u2192&nbsp;<strong>Network and Internet<\/strong>\u2192&nbsp;<strong>Network and Sharing Center<\/strong>. In earlier versions&nbsp;of Windows, the navigation will differ slightly.<\/p>\n<p>2. Select <strong>Change adapter settings<\/strong> from the links to the left of the <em>Network and Sharing Center<\/em> screen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/PC_Change_adapter_settings.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-10977\" src=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/PC_Change_adapter_settings.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"155\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/PC_Change_adapter_settings.png 731w, https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/PC_Change_adapter_settings-300x78.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>3. The <em>Network Connections<\/em> window opens, displaying all of the networks your computer is connected to.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; Leave the network your Room Alert will be connected to enabled. In our example below, the&nbsp;<em>Ethernet<\/em>&nbsp;network adapter remains enabled.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; Disable all other network cards by right clicking on each and selecting <strong>Disable<\/strong>.
