Typically, you&#8217;d take this step after you&#8217;ve attempted to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/230\/how-to-connect-a-room-alert-monitor-directly-to-a-computer-advanced-troubleshooting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">discover the Room Alert by connecting it directly to a computer<\/a>, but you can also use Wireshark while your Room Alert is connected to your regular network.<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#bcc3cd;border-radius:5px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#d6dde7;border-color:#ffffff;color:#305d8c;border-radius:5px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px;\">\n<p>If you don&#8217;t already have this program, you may download it from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wireshark.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/www.wireshark.org\/<\/a>. You may follow the on-screen prompts to install it.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<h5>To find the IP address of your unit using Wireshark, follow the instructions below:<\/h5>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">1. Have the MAC address of your Room Alert handy. This FAQ shows you where to look:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/201\/find-mac-address-room-alert-monitor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Where To Find The MAC Address Of A Room Alert Monitor<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">2. Open Wireshark. You may open it by navigating to <strong>Start\u2192<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Wireshark<\/strong> in Windows.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">3. The <em>Welcome to Wireshark<\/em> window appears. In the <em>Capture<\/em>\u00a0section, you&#8217;ll see a list of networks your computer is associated with.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">4. Double-click the network that your Room Alert is on. In that field, enter the following:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">eth.addr==<em>Your Room Alert&#8217;s MAC Address<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><strong>Example: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 90px;\"><strong>eth.addr==1A:2B:3C:4D:5E:6F<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><em>You may use colons or hyphens as separators in the MAC address.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">7. You&#8217;ll then see the network traffic to and from your Room Alert.\u00a0<strong>If you don&#8217;t see any traffic at all, reboot the Room Alert by disconnecting it from power and then reconnecting it.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">9.\u00a0You may find your Room Alert&#8217;s IP address in the <em>Source<\/em>, <em>Destination<\/em> or <em>Info<\/em> column.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">&#8211; This screenshot from Wireshark shows the Room Alert (on DHCP) first booting up on its regular network.
