By default, it scans your network every 30 seconds using a broadcast on UDP Port 30718.<br><br>To see your automatically-discovered devices:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Open Device ManageR in your browser. You may open it by entering &#8216;localhost:8080&#8217; or &#8216;&lt;IP address of host system&gt;:8080&#8217; in the address bar.<\/li><li>Your devices will immediately populate the &#8216;Discovered Devices&#8217; list to the left, as shown below:<br><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"203\" height=\"423\" class=\"wp-image-8922\" style=\"width: 150px;\" src=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ADM_Discovery_DevicesList.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ADM_Discovery_DevicesList.png 203w, https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ADM_Discovery_DevicesList-144x300.png 144w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 203px) 100vw, 203px\" \/><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>If you wish, you may change automatic discovery settings, such as the scan interval, by navigating to <strong>Settings<\/strong>&#8211;&gt; <strong>Discovery<\/strong> in the navigation bar to the left of your screen. 15 seconds is the shortest interval between automatic scans.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-fancy su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-anchor=\"advanced_discovery\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>Advanced Discovery With Device ManageR<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n\n\n\n<p>If your device does not appear with automatic discovery,* try using the advanced discovery feature, which searches over TCP instead of UDP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><em>* As of version 6.3.3,&nbsp;Device ManageR can discover Room Alert 3 Wi-Fi using Advanced Discovery. If you are unable to discover your Room Alert 3 Wi-Fi using Advanced Discovery, please check your Device ManageR version number. You may update to the latest version through your account at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/roomalert.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">RoomAlert.com<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Select <strong>Device Status<\/strong> &#8211;&gt; <strong>Advanced Discovery<\/strong> in the navigation bar to the left of your screen to bring up the &#8216;Advanced Discovery Options&#8217; dialog box.<br><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"304\" class=\"wp-image-8912\" style=\"width: 400px;\" src=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ADM_Discovery_AdvDiscButton.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ADM_Discovery_AdvDiscButton.png 500w, https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ADM_Discovery_AdvDiscButton-300x182.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/li><li>Next, select <strong>Manually Add Devices<\/strong> <strong>Via IP Address<\/strong>.<br><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"436\" height=\"225\" class=\"wp-image-8913\" style=\"width: 400px;\" src=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ADM_Discovery_ManualButton.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ADM_Discovery_ManualButton.png 436w, https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ADM_Discovery_ManualButton-300x155.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 436px) 100vw, 436px\" \/><\/li><li>When the &#8216;Add Undiscovered Devices Via . . .&#8217; dialog box appears, you may choose <strong>Single IP Address<\/strong> or <strong>Range Of IP Addresses<\/strong>.<ul><li><strong>Single IP Address<\/strong><br>This is a good option when you already know the IP address of the device you&#8217;re looking for, but automatic discovery didn&#8217;t find it.<ul><li>Leave the default, <strong>Single IP Address<\/strong>, selected.<\/li><li>In &#8216;IP Address,&#8217; enter the IP address.<br><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"476\" height=\"187\" class=\"wp-image-8915\" style=\"width: 350px;\" src=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ADM_Discovery_SingleIP.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ADM_Discovery_SingleIP.png 476w, https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ADM_Discovery_SingleIP-300x118.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 476px) 100vw, 476px\" \/><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>Range Of IP Addresses<\/strong><br>This is a good option when you&#8217;d like to search only a portion of your network for devices.<ul><li>Select <strong>Range Of IP Addresses<\/strong>.<\/li><li>In &#8216;Start IP&#8217; and &#8216;End IP,&#8217; enter the first and last address in the range you&#8217;d like to look in.<br><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"476\" height=\"187\" class=\"wp-image-8914\" style=\"width: 350px;\" src=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ADM_Discovery_RangeIP.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ADM_Discovery_RangeIP.png 476w, https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ADM_Discovery_RangeIP-300x118.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 476px) 100vw, 476px\" \/><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Select <strong>Begin Scan<\/strong>. Device ManageR then scans your network using TCP Port 30718.<\/li><li>You\u2019ll see a status popup that shows devices as they are found during the scan. Please see our FAQ, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/201\/where-to-find-the-mac-address-of-a-room-alert\/\" target=\"_blank\">Where To Find The MAC Address Of A Room Alert<\/a>, if you&#8217;re not sure of the MAC.<\/li><li>Then, you may tell your device to use DHCP or you may assign it a static IP.<ul><li>Select <strong>Use DHCP<\/strong> to have your unit obtain an address with DHCP.<br>or<\/li><li>Enter an IP address to assign it a static address. <em>Please note that this assigns only the IP; it does not assign the other necessary network settings of subnet mask, default gateway and DNS server.<\/em><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Select <strong>Update IP Settings<\/strong>.<br><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"436\" height=\"142\" class=\"wp-image-8925\" style=\"width: 400px;\" src=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ADM_Discovery_UpdateIP.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ADM_Discovery_UpdateIP.png 436w, https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ADM_Discovery_UpdateIP-300x98.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 436px) 100vw, 436px\" \/><\/li><li>Your unit will reboot with its new settings (either DHCP or a static IP address) and should then appear in the list of discovered devices.<\/li><li>If you entered a static IP in Step 4 (rather than choosing DHCP), open the Room Alert&#8217;s web interface and complete the IP settings for the subnet mask, default gateway and DNS server.
