The steps below show you\u00a0what to do for the default and most commonly-used action type, sending an email.<\/p>\n<p>To set up an action in Device ManageR, please follow these steps:<\/p>\n<p>1. Open Device ManageR in your web browser. You may open it by entering &#8216;localhost:8080&#8217; or &#8216;&lt;IP address of Device ManageR&#8217;s host system&gt;:8080&#8217; in your browser&#8217;s address bar.<\/p>\n<p>2. Select <strong>Alerts \/ Tasks<\/strong> in the navigation bar to the left.<\/p>\n<p>3. In the <em>Alerts \/ Tasks<\/em>\u00a0menu, select <strong>Actions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>4. Select <strong>Add<\/strong> to add your first action.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/ADM_AlertsTasks_Actions_Add.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3227\" src=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/ADM_AlertsTasks_Actions_Add.png\" alt=\"ADM_AlertsTasks_Actions_Add\" width=\"600\" height=\"151\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/ADM_AlertsTasks_Actions_Add.png 960w, https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/ADM_AlertsTasks_Actions_Add-300x75.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>5. In the <em>Add New Action<\/em> window:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; In <em>Name<\/em>, enter a name for the action. In our example, we&#8217;ve called the action &#8216;Send email to IT Mgr.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; (Optional) In <em>Description<\/em>, you may enter any notes you feel would be helpful.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; In <em>Action Type<\/em>, select the action you wish to execute from the drop-down list. Once you select the action type, options unique to that action will appear.\u00a0In this example, we&#8217;ll leave the default action type, <strong>Send Email to Configured Contact<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; The unique option for this action is the <em>Contact<\/em> field. In <em>Contact<\/em>, select a contact from the drop-down menu or select <strong>Add<\/strong> to add a new one. We&#8217;re choosing a contact we created in the previous FAQ,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/101\/how-to-create-and-edit-contacts-in-device-manager\/\" target=\"_blank\">How To Create And Edit Contacts In Device ManageR<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; In <em>If not successful, retry this Action<\/em>, you may leave the default, 0, or enter a higher number.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; (Optional) If you wish, you may associate a schedule with this action by selecting <strong>Optional Schedule<\/strong> and choosing a schedule from the drop-down list. (If you attach a schedule to the action, it can be performed only during the hours you&#8217;ve set up in the Optional Schedule.)<\/p>\n<p>6.
