Open the Room Alert Monitor web interface. You may open the interface using Device Discovery or Device ManageR, or by typing the IP address of the unit directly into the address bar of your web browser.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">2. Select the <strong>Settings<\/strong> tab at the top of the screen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">3. Select <strong>SMTP Email<\/strong> in the navigation bar to the left. Below is the <em>Email Settings<\/em>&nbsp;page shown at defaults.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/SMTP_Email_Default1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3374\" src=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/SMTP_Email_Default1-1024x746.jpg\" alt=\"SMTP_Email_Default(1)\" width=\"600\" height=\"437\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/SMTP_Email_Default1-1024x746.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/SMTP_Email_Default1-300x219.jpg 300w, https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/SMTP_Email_Default1.jpg 1035w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Step 2: Enter the general settings for email.<\/h4>\n<div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#bcc3cd;border-radius:5px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#d6dde7;border-color:#ffffff;color:#305d8c;border-radius:5px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px;\">\n<p>Do not enclose email or email-to-SMS addresses in angle brackets (&lt;&gt;).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">1. Select the <strong>Email Enabled<\/strong> check box.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">2. You may leave the <em>Mail Server Port<\/em> at the default, 25, or change it to the port your mail server uses.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">3. In <em>Mail Server<\/em>, enter the domain name or IP address of your mail server.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><em>The Room Alert Monitor does not support SSL or TLS mail servers. If your mail server requires SSL or TLS, you may use AVTECH&#8217;s Device ManageR software instead to set up your email alerts, or you may use your account at <a href=\"http:\/\/roomalert.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RoomAlert.com<\/a>&nbsp;for email alerts, which does not require any mail server set up at all.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">4. In <em>Return Address<\/em>, enter the email address you want the alerts to come from.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">&#8211; This email address must already exist on your mail server.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">5. In <em>Display URL<\/em>, you may leave the default (blank) or enter an IP address.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">&#8211; If you leave the field blank, once you save your email settings, the unit will reboot with its IP address automatically filled in.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">&#8211; This IP address displays at the bottom of alert emails so that you may click on it and quickly access the web interface of the Room Alert.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 90px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/SMTP_General_Settings.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3375\" src=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/SMTP_General_Settings.jpg\" alt=\"SMTP_General_Settings\" width=\"400\" height=\"157\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/SMTP_General_Settings.jpg 686w, https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/SMTP_General_Settings-300x118.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Step 3 (Optional): Enter the username &amp; password for the return address email account if necessary.<\/h4>\n<p>If the return address email account requires a username and password, enter it here. Otherwise, you may leave all of these fields blank.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">1. Select the <strong>Enable Authentication<\/strong> check box.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">2. In <em>Username<\/em>, enter the user name for the return address email address.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">3. In <em>Password<\/em>, enter the password for the return address email address.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/SMTP_Authentication_Settings.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3376\" src=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/SMTP_Authentication_Settings.jpg\" alt=\"SMTP_Authentication_Settings\" width=\"450\" height=\"92\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/SMTP_Authentication_Settings.jpg 683w, https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/SMTP_Authentication_Settings-300x61.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Step 4: Enter the addresses you&#8217;d like to send alerts to.<\/h4>\n<p>In <em>Email Recipients<\/em>, enter 1 or more email addresses to receive alerts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; Separate email addresses with commas. You do not need to leave a space after the comma.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; They may be email or email-to-SMS addresses.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; This field accepts up to 79 characters; if that is not long enough to accommodate all of the contacts you&#8217;d like to send alerts to, you may wish to create a distribution list on your mail server so that one email address forwards to many people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/SMTP_Email_Recipients.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3377\" src=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/SMTP_Email_Recipients.jpg\" alt=\"SMTP_Email_Recipients\" width=\"450\" height=\"51\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/SMTP_Email_Recipients.jpg 681w, https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/SMTP_Email_Recipients-300x34.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Step 5: Accept &amp; save your settings.<\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">1. Once you&#8217;ve entered your settings, select <strong>Accept Changes<\/strong> at the bottom of the page to temporarily save your settings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">2. Then select <strong>Save Settings<\/strong> in the navigation bar to the left. Your Room Alert Monitor will reboot with your new SNMP email settings.<\/p>\n<h4>Step 6: Send a test email.<\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">After your unit has rebooted, select the<strong> Test Email<\/strong> button to send a test email to all of the recipients in the &#8216;Email Recipients&#8217; field.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">If the test message is not received, first check any spam filters on the recipient&#8217;s account.
