Room Alert environment monitoring products proactively safeguard critical assets by monitoring conditions such as temperature, heat index, power, water\/flood, and more. By doing so, Room Alert ensures workplace safety, customer comfort, data security, productivity, and, importantly, the preservation of historical landmarks like the Montauk Point Lighthouse.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Montauk Point Lighthouse has undergone extensive restoration over the years, with the Montauk Historical Society identifying issues such as water permeating through the masonry. In 2019, concerns arose about the negative impact on the interior tower’s masonry, necessitating a solution to address this environmental challenge. Room Alert became the answer, offering a proactive approach to environmental monitoring.<\/span><\/p>\n

Without Room Alert, these environmental threats could lead to mold and mildew growth, corrosion, wood decay, electrical issues, and other costly repairs. Prior to installing Room Alert along with a Direct Air Cooling unit supplied by fellow Rhode Island manufacturer Schrofftech (a wholly-owned subsidiary of RF Industries LLC), the Coast Guard was using an off-the-shelf humidity monitor that needed to be read manually. This monitor gave sporadic readings at best, leading to concerns over future moisture damage to the lighthouse. Room Alert is now used with Schrofftech\u2019s DAC unit to reliably \u2013 and verifiably \u2013 control the environment in the lighthouse, allowing the historic Fresnel lens (built in 1902) to be returned to service.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Room Alert Helps Prevent High Humidity Leading To Catastrophic Damage<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a>The world-famous Montauk Lighthouse recognized the need for reliable environment monitoring, particularly with improved humidity detection. This capability ensures the interior of the tower remains sufficiently dry, preventing condensation caused by the drastic temperature changes experienced throughout the day and night.<\/span><\/p>\n

The advanced alerting and graphing capabilities of Room Alert allowed Montauk to proactively monitor and collect accurate sensor data. This data was instrumental in providing the Coast Guard with the necessary information for returning the lens to service. As Montauk continues its journey to bring the lens back to active service, Room Alert proudly contributes to protecting the critical assets of this historical landmark. Room Alert stands as a beacon in the preservation of history, preventing environmental threats and ensuring the longevity of historical monuments like the Montauk Point Lighthouse.<\/span><\/p>\n
