In order to send email from Device ManageR, you must first configure your mail server.<\/p>\n<p>To set up your mail server in Device ManageR, please follow these steps:<\/p>\n<h3>Setting Up Your Primary Mail Server<\/h3>\n<div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#bcc3cd;border-radius:5px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#d6dde7;border-color:#ffffff;color:#305d8c;border-radius:5px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px;\">\n<p>Do not enclose email or email-to-SMS addresses in angle brackets (&lt;&gt;).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">1. Open Device ManageR in your web browser. You may open it by entering &#8216;localhost:8080&#8217; or &#8216;&lt;IP address of host system&gt;:8080&#8217; in your browser&#8217;s address bar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">2. Select <strong>Settings<\/strong> in the navigation bar to the left.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">3. Then select <strong>SMTP Email<\/strong> from the <em>Settings<\/em> menu.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">4. Under <em>Primary Mail Server<\/em>, enter the following:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">-In <em>Mail Server IP or DNS Name<\/em>, enter your mail server&#8217;s domain name or IP address.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">-In <em>Port Number<\/em>, you may leave the default, 25, a commonly-used port, or enter the port that your mail server uses.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">-Typically, you may leave <em>SMTP Timeout<\/em> at the default, 15 seconds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">-If your mail server uses SSL or TLS encryption, check the appropriate box: <strong>Use SSL<\/strong> or <strong>Use TLS<\/strong>. Otherwise, leave those boxes blank.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">-In <em>From (Return) Mail Address<\/em>, enter the email address you want alert notifications to come from.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">-If your mail server requires login credentials, enter the <em>Username<\/em> and <em>Password <\/em>for the <em>From (Return)<\/em> address. Otherwise, leave those fields blank.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">-If you wish, you may enter an address in <em>Test Recipient Email<\/em>. This address will receive a test email if you choose to send one later in the process.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">5. Then select <strong>Save Settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ADM_Settings_SMTP_Email_Example.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3176\" src=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ADM_Settings_SMTP_Email_Example.png\" alt=\"ADM_Settings_SMTP_Email_Example\" width=\"600\" height=\"435\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ADM_Settings_SMTP_Email_Example.png 905w, https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ADM_Settings_SMTP_Email_Example-300x217.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">6. Once you&#8217;ve saved your mail server information, you may wish to select <strong>Send Test Email<\/strong> to make sure you configured your settings correctly. Your <em>Test Email Recipient<\/em> will receive the test email.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3183\" src=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ADM_Test_Email_Successful.png\" alt=\"ADM_Test_Email_Successful\" width=\"250\" height=\"210\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Setting Up a Secondary (Backup) Mail Server<\/h3>\n<p>You may configure a backup mail server if you wish. Device ManageR will only use this backup if an email attempt with the primary mail server fails, as it would if that mail server is temporarily unavailable or unexpectedly down.<\/p>\n<p>Follow the same steps as above to configure your secondary mail server, including sending a test email to make sure it is configured correctly.<\/p>\n<h3>Viewing the Email Log<\/h3>\n<p>If you need to do any troubleshooting for email in Device ManageR, you may find the email log helpful.
