With the change of seasons to Spring for many of us in the world, now is the perfect time to perform a little \u201cSpring cleaning\u201d on your monitoring plans. It\u2019s also a good time to review your business continuity plans to make sure they\u2019re up to date as well.<\/p>\n

Just like you should be checking your smoke detectors at home, checking your environment monitoring at the office will help keep your company protected and productive by helping prevent unexpected outages.<\/p>\n

Update your alerts<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Every company should periodically revisit the alerts they\u2019ve created to ensure they\u2019re still up to date. Employees come and go from every organization, so it\u2019s best to make sure all of your alerts are going to the correct people in your company.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also a good idea to periodically check on the contact information in your alerts as well; it won\u2019t do you any good if alerts are being sent to an incorrect email address or a former cell phone number that\u2019s no longer in use.<\/p>\n

If this continues to happen, your sensors may end up in locations that don\u2019t give you the most optimal readings. Be sure to perform a walk-through of your facility just to give your various sensors the \u201ceyeball test\u201d to confirm they\u2019re all in the proper place.<\/p>\n

Checking the cleanliness of your sensors will go a long way to making sure they\u2019re providing the correct readings, as well as prolonging their life. For instance, if you have the Flood Sensor with Cable<\/a>\u00a0strung along the floor, make sure it\u2019s not accumulating dirt or dust. Likewise with any outdoor sensors, such as the Digital Outdoor Temperature Sensor<\/a> \u2013 being exposed to the elements can lead to dirt and accumulation that can cause false readings. Customers who use sensors in extreme environments, such as freezers and water tanks, should also periodically inspect the sensors for any external accumulation and wipe them down if necessary.<\/p>\n

Spring is when heavy rains can wreak havoc with battered roofs and windows that stood up to winter storms. Quickly melting snow can also introduce water into your facility unexpectedly.<\/p>\n
