Before you begin<\/h3>\n

Before you can work with Room Alert Monitor in your 3rd-party SNMP program, you must first take some preliminary steps:<\/p>\n

1. Download the MIBs for your Room Alert Monitor model.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This FAQ shows you where to get your Room Alert Monitor’s MIB files:\u00a0Where To Find Room Alert MIB Files<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The MIBs will download in a .zip file. Be sure to unzip the file before attempting to load the MIBs\u00a0into your SNMP program.<\/p>\n

2. Load the MIBs into your SNMP program.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each SNMP program is different\u2014please see the documentation for your SNMP program for instructions on loading MIBs.<\/p>\n

3. Select the correct SNMP version in your SNMP program.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Room Alert “E” models use SNMPv1, which you’ll need to specify in your SNMP program.<\/p>\n

Room Alert “S” models support SNMPv1, v2 and v3.<\/p>\n

Please see your SNMP program’s documentation for instructions.<\/p>\n

Once you’ve taken these preliminary steps, you may find a Room Alert sensor’s OID or current reading in your SNMP program. Select the tabs below for more information.<\/p>\n

Finding Sensor OIDs<\/span>Finding Current Sensor Values<\/span><\/div>

To find the OIDs for any particular sensor, follow these steps:<\/p>\n

Step 1: Expand the MIB tree.<\/h4>\n

Once you’ve loaded the MIBs for your Room Alert Monitor model, your MIB tree will look similar to that shown below for the Room Alert model 3E.\u00a0Notice that Room Alert\u00a0MIBs appear along this path:\u00a0private\u2192enterprises\u2192avtech\u2192products\u2192<Room Alert model>:<\/p>\n

Step 2: Expand your Room Alert model’s branches.<\/h4>\n

Next, expand the folders\u00a0under the model name\u2014in this case “roomalert3E”\u2014to expose the leaves of the Room Alert’s tree.<\/p>\n

Step 3: Select a leaf.<\/h4>\n

Finally, select a leaf to bring up its OID and description.<\/p>\n

Below you see that “digital-sen1” has 3 leaves. Selecting the first leaf,\u00a0“digital-sen1-1,” reveals the following information:<\/p>\n

Continue to select leaves throughout the Room Alert model’s tree to find the\u00a0OIDs you need for any other sensor.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

SNMP Walk<\/h3>\n

To view the current sensor readings for your Room Alert Monitor via SNMP, you may “walk” your unit in your SNMP program.<\/p>\n

For instructions on how to perform a walk, please see your 3rd-party SNMP program’s documentation.<\/p>\n

Room Alert Status Page Compared To SNMP Walk<\/h3>\n

Walking the Room Alert Monitor displays the same sensor values that the unit’s Status page normally displays.<\/p>\n

Below is a sample Room Alert 3E’s sensor readings: on the left, the readings are shown in the Status page of the unit’s web interface; on the right, they are shown as the result of an SNMP walk of the unit.<\/p>\n

SNMP always shows both temperature scales (Fahrenheit and Celsius), while the Status page shows\u00a0only the scale you have selected.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
