It does this through both internal sensors, as well as a wide range of external sensors that have been designed to work with all our Room Alert models.

Many of our customers opt for a sensor or two, however given the sensor capacity of many of our Room Alerts, some users might be potentially missing out on other environment factors that can help increase their overall uptime.

Here are some popular sensors we offer that easily connect to your Room Alert, and can help give you some peace of mind when it comes to monitoring your facility.

Temperature and Humidity

All of our Room Alerts come with built-in temperature sensors (for a monitor comparison list, just click here), however the monitoring can be extended to cover additional areas and temperature ranges with our sensors.

Our Digital Temp & Humidity Sensor is one of our most popular models. It not only provides temperature readings from -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit (-40 to 85 degrees Celsius), it also provides relative humidity readings from 5% to 95% and also helps to provide heat index (feels like temperature). This is an excellent option for facilities that need to have accurate readings on both temperature and humidity such as data centers and warehouses; the heat index feature is also a valuable option for facilities that have a large number of employees where conditions may sometimes pose health concerns due to geography, climate, or other internal factors.

The Digital Fluid Temperature Sensor provides readings from -67 to 257 degrees Fahrenheit (-55 to 125 degrees Celsius), and is designed to specifically monitor fluids rather than the surrounding air temperature. It’s the perfect option for refrigerated liquids in extreme environments such as laboratories, medical environments, or aquariums.

In fact, a client using the Digital Fluid Temperature Sensor in a fish hatchery was able to discover the lights being turned on abruptly each morning was disturbing and upsetting all the fish, which was leading to lower reproductive rates. Certainly, a unique but very useful situation!

Flood

We’ve posted a few articles recently about the need to monitor for flood to help protect your business against water damage. A lot of people hear “flood” and think they’re not at risk since they’re not near any major bodies of water, however flood damage can come from broken pipes, extreme weather, melting snow, backed up plumbing, and any other number of sources.

Our Spot Flood Sensor and Flood Sensor with Cable are perfect add-ons for any Room Alert. The Spot Flood Sensor will alert you if it detects water, and is the perfect solution for floor low points, or known areas that may experience wetness.

The Flood Sensor with Cable can be placed around sensitive equipment such as server racks in your data center or server room, and will alert you if water is detected anywhere along the cable. You can also place it along HVAC units or near condensation pumps to help alert you if there’s a leak or problem with the unit. This helps you address the problem immediately, rather than wait for the side effects of a broken unit occur (high temps, crashed servers, ruined food and merchandise, damaged floors, etc.).

Power

AVTECH offers several power sensors to help you both protect your facility as well as identify potential power concerns to help save you money. Our Power Sensor will notify you when certain power sources turn on or off. It’s a great way to monitor your backup generator so you’re notified if it needs to turn on or off during a power outage, such as during a storm or extreme weather.

The Current Loop Sensor is available in two models and can help identify sources that may be drawing too much power or increasing power levels. This can help you identify ways to potentially cut down on energy consumption or identify equipment in need of servicing, which in turn will help you save money.

Smoke

Every building has smoke detectors and fire suppression systems to protect both employees and the facility itself. AVTECH offers a Smoke Sensor with Escape Light that will provide you with secondary immediate notification via Room Alert if smoke is detected anywhere near it’s installation.

While your building’s smoke detectors may also help provide you and the fire department with notification, having an AVTECH Smoke Sensor can also help you set up automatic corrective actions through Room Alert. If smoke is detected in your data center for instance, you can use Room Alert to trigger a fan to turn on. You could also trigger immediate shutdowns for servers and appliances anywhere on your network to help protect your company’s data against loss.

Motion

Our Motion Sensor can be placed up to 900’ away from any Room Alert, and can help notify you if any motion is detected up to 35’ away. This is a secure option for installation in remote areas, or locations such as storage closets to help notify you of any motion when there shouldn’t be any.

We also provide a Room Entry Sensor that can be installed on any door or cabinet to help notify you if the door is opened. Much like the Motion Sensor, it can be installed up to 900’ away from your Room Alert.

For situations when you need visual motion confirmation, you can pair up an Axis camera with Room Alert and your RoomAlert.com account. When an alert is triggered, users can grab live snapshots directly through RoomAlert.com which can help troubleshoot the causes of the alert.

For a full list of compatible Axis cameras, please click here.

If you currently have some open ports on your Room Alert, adding another sensor or two can help you get a more thorough view of your facility’s environment and help you track trends that can save you money, in addition to helping you stay protected. Our dedicated Product Specialists will be happy to speak with you about your current environment monitoring needs, and help recommend specific sensors that would provide you with the best monitoring and coverage.

You can contact our Product Specialists any time by emailing Sales@AVTECH.com, calling 401.628.1600, or even submitting a Quote Request online. We’ll be happy to make a few sensor recommendations to help keep your facility, network, assets, and data protected, while providing you with additional peace of mind.

Note: The former GoToMyDevices online monitoring and management platform was migrated into RoomAlert.com in December 2017.
