United Nations Selects Rhode Island Company For IT & Facilities Environment Monitoring Products Newport Based AVTECH Continues Technology Lead

September 4, 2007 Newport, RI – AVTECH Software (AVTECH) has been selected to provide the United Nations Mission In Liberia (UNMIL) with ‘IT & Facilities Environment Monitoring’ products to monitor forty (40) critical data centers in Liberia and surrounding African nations.

The United Nations is already an AVTECH customer at their worldwide headquarters in New York City and other locations around the world. Under this new contract, AVTECH will provide forty (40) of its new Room Alert 26W units to monitor environment conditions in IT data centers and provide alerting, data logging and automatic corrective actions. These valuable functions protect vital IT equipment, insure reliability, maximize performance, improve support response time and significantly reduce downtime.

Room Alert 26W is AVTECH Software’s most advanced hardware solution for ‘Computer Room Environment Monitoring, Alerting & Automatic Corrective Action’. It is designed specifically to assist with monitoring computer room temperature, humidity, power, flood, room entry and more in multiple locations while utilizing wireless technology to avoid running cables. Room Alert 26W’s Wireless Sensor Hubs (WiSH) communicate via a secure, private protocol that is ZigBee compatible, allowing users the ability to monitor large numbers of sensors, both indoors and out up to 250´ away. Room Alert 26W enables users to log environment sensor status for analysis, historical review and graphing. It provides alert notifications via email, email-to-SMS, SNMP and more to devices like computers, mobile phones, pagers and PDAs. Room Alert 26W comes standard in a 1U 19” configuration and offers an easy to use web browser interface for making settings changes and viewing real-time sensor status.
