Product Spotlight: Room Alert 32 for Advanced Facility Monitoring

In our last Product Spotlight on the Room Alert 12E, we noted that it shared many of the same advanced facility monitoring features of our flagship model, with a smaller footprint and price point.

This week, we’re going to talk about that flagship model, the Room Alert designed to cover nearly any environment or facility you would need to monitor, the model that protects US military installations and many of the Fortune 1000 data centers and facilities – the Room Alert 32E.

The Room Alert 32E and its wireless counterpart, the Room Alert 32W, are our most advanced environment monitoring products available, and designed to help protect enterprise customers. We’re going to take a look at the Room Alert 32E in this article, and focus on the Room Alert 32W in an upcoming article. For larger facilities that need a wealth of environment monitoring options with a high capacity for additional sensors, the Room Alert 32E offers the ultimate package.

The Room Alert 32E combines the most sensor inputs of all of our models, offers advanced data logging and reporting, cloud-based monitoring and alerting, and fits in a single 1U rack space for easy mounting.

Expanded Features on the Room Alert 32E

Sometimes facilities that need to be monitored weren’t designed with modern infrastructure needs in mind. To work around that, the Room Alert 32E can be powered by the provided power adaptor, or by Power over Ethernet (PoE). This allows our customers to place the Room Alert 32E in the best possible location for their facility.

Temperature and humidity are both monitored via internal digital sensors. The Room Alert 32E also has an internal sensor that monitors main and battery backup power to the device.

Speaking of power, the Room Alert 32E also comes with a built-in internal battery backup. In a perfect world, all devices would be plugged into a UPS for both protection as well as backup power in the event of a power loss. However, that’s not always the case, so if there’s no UPS or the Room Alert 32E is powered by PoE, the internal battery backup will power Room Alert for up to 15 minutes for emergency notifications.

External Sensor Capacity

All of our Room Alerts allow users to plug in a combination of external sensors, which can monitor a variety of environment factors some distance from Room Alert. The Room Alert 32E can have up to 8 external digital sensors attached to it, including sensors such as:

• Temperature
• Temperature & Humidity
• Temperature & Analog
• Outdoor Temperature
• Fluid Temperature

All of these can measure environment factors up to 100 feet away.

Sixteen external switch sensors are also available, which can provide monitoring up to 900 feet away. Available switch sensors can monitor power, smoke, air flow, room entry, motion and much more.

The Room Alert 32E has two analog inputs, which can allow users to plug in a Current Loop or Extreme Temperature Sensor. The Extreme Temperature Sensor can be very beneficial to a facility such as a medical lab, which needs to keep samples stored at extremely low temperatures, or, on the other end of the temperature spectrum, a manufacturing facility that needs to keep some materials at an extremely high heat.

Two relay outputs allow Room Alert 32E to take action when alerts are detected. Relay outputs can be connected to a building alarm panel for security notifications of environment issues. Or they can be tied in with existing facility monitoring or security solutions. Customers also use these outputs to toggle secondary or backup equipment like fans, air conditioners and pumps to automatically mitigate issues caused by temperatures rising or pipes bursting. The two relay outputs give you many options for automatic corrective action with Room Alert.

The Room Alert 32E can be accessed in three ways – locally through a web browser, through our Device ManageR software, or through our GoToMyDevices cloud platform.

Using GoToMyDevices provides the most flexibility, as it allows users to access their alerts, reports, and logs from anywhere at any time. Customers with multiple employees that need access to their cloud-based temperature and environment monitoring can easily create multiple accounts. Employees can keep track of their alerts, environment trends, and more through GoToMyDevices.

When customers with larger facilities need environment monitoring, the Room Alert 32E can handle any installation. The ability to connect both wired and wireless sensors (with Room Alert 32W) helps the Room Alert 32E monitor, alert, log, and report on nearly any environment factor that’s critical to a data center, manufacturing facility, lab, or any other location.
