How To Adjust A Sensor Reading On A Room Alert Monitor (Legacy)

Using the new version of the Room Alert Monitor web interface? Please click here for the appropriate FAQ.

If a numerical reading on your Room Alert Monitor differs from a known value, you may adjust that reading up or down in the Room Alert web interface.

This applies to all models except the Room Alert 3 Wi-Fi. To adjust the reading for a sensor on a Room Alert 3 Wi-Fi, please see this FAQ: How To Adjust A Sensor Reading In Your RoomAlert.com Account.

The following types of sensors and conditions may be adjusted:

– Temperature
– Humidity
– Heat Index
– Analog (Voltage/Custom Scale)

To adjust a reading, please follow these steps:

1. Open your Room Alert Monitor’s web interface. You may open the interface using Device ManageR, Device Discovery or by entering the IP address of the unit directly into your web browser’s address bar.

2. Select the Settings tab at the top of the page.

3. Select Sensors in the navigation bar to the left. (For the WiSH, select the WiSH Sensor Settings tab.)

4. Locate sensor you wish to adjust.

5. In Adjust, enter the number you want to adjust up or down by.

6. Select Accept Changes at the bottom of the page to temporarily save your settings.

7. Select Save Settings in the navigation bar to the left.

8. Your unit will reboot with its new settings. If you look at the Status page of your unit, you’ll see the reading now adjusted by the value you entered.

Special Note on Internal Temperature Sensors

A Room Alert Monitor or Wireless Sensor Hub’s internal temperature sensor measures the ambient air temperature inside the unit.

Under normal operating conditions, the device can generate some heat internally that can cause the internal sensor to register a temperature that is a few degrees higher than the external sensors. This especially holds true for any rack-mounted monitors, as the temperature inside of a rack is typically warmer than the surrounding environment.

If you find that the internal temperature reads higher than that shown by your external temperature sensors, you may use the adjust field to calibrate. If the internal temperature is, for example, 2 degrees higher than the external temperature sensors, you may put -2 in the internal temperature sensor’s Adjust field.
