How To Set A Static IP Address On Room Alert 3 Wi-Fi

By default, your Room Alert 3 Wi-Fi initially obtains an IP address from your wireless network by DHCP. However, you may later set a static IP address on the device if you wish. Please follow these steps to do so:

1. First, complete the steps in the FAQ below in order to connect your Room Alert 3 Wi-Fi to your wireless network.

2. Then, once your Room Alert 3 Wi-Fi is connected to your wireless network, navigate to Device Settings–>Network.

3. In the Network page, select wlan0 + Interface + Configuration.

4. Leave State at Enabled.

5. In DHCP Client, select Disabled.

6. In IP Address, enter the static IP. In the example below, we’ve entered 192.168.88.31.

7. In Default Gateway, enter the IP address of the default gateway. In the example below, we’ve entered 192.168.88.1.

8. You may enter a Hostname if you wish.

9. In Primary DNS, enter the IP address of the DNS server. In the example below, we’ve entered 8.8.8.8.

10. In Secondary DNS, you may enter a back-up DNS server IP address if you wish.

11. Typically, you may leave MSS at the default, 1460.

12. Select Submit to save your changes. (You’re not done yet–notice the on-screen message that these changes take effect only after you reboot.)

13. Reboot the device by unplugging it from power and then plugging it back in again.

You may re-open the Room Alert 3 Wi-Fi’s web interface by any of the following means:

– Type the new IP address directly into your browser’s address bar.

– In your account at RoomAlert.com, select your Room Alert 3 Wi-Fi and select Device Interface.

– In Device ManageR, select your Room Alert 3 Wi-Fi and select Web Interface.

    Start--> All Programs--> Accessories--> Command Prompt
  • Windows 10
    Start--> All Apps--> Windows System--> Command Prompt

To run Windows Command Prompt as an administrator:

  • Windows 7 & 8
    Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
  • Windows 10
    Right-click on Command Prompt, select More and then select Run as administrator.

If you are using this client, you should configure the general SNMPv3 Credentials, but leave the Read / Write SNMPv3 Credentials section blank.
