How To Customize Alert Notifications In Your RoomAlert.com Account (VIDEO) For organizations at the Professional level of RoomAlert.com or higher.

GoToMyDevices has been migrated to RoomAlert.com. Learn more in our article, GoToMyDevices Is Now RoomAlert.com.

If your organization’s Room Alert Account has been upgraded to the Professional level or higher, you can customize email and text message alert notifications.

You may view a video demonstration of customizing notifications below.

Step 1: Open your alert's interface.

Follow these steps to open the alert’s interface:

1. Log in to your account at RoomAlert.com.

In order to edit parts of an alert, you must log in as an admin-level or operator-level user. For more information, please see the “Types of user roles” section of our FAQ, How To Manage User Access To Your RoomAlert.com Account.

2. Select Alerts from the navigation bar to the left.

3. In your Alert List tab, you’ll see a list of all of your configured alerts. Click on an alert to open its interface.

4. Here, you can configure advanced features.

Step 2: Customize the alert notifications.

Follow these steps to customize your notification text.

First, open the notification templates.

1. Select Options in the upper right corner of the alert interface.

2. You may customize both the email and text message templates, by selecting the Custom radio buttons.

– In our example, we’re going to customize the Email Template.

3. Two tabs will appear for the custom email template:

– In Triggered, you can customize the notification that will be sent when an alert is triggered.

– In Cleared, you can customize the notification that will be sent when an alert clears.

4. Both the Triggered and Cleared templates populate with the default text for the Subject and Body fields.

5. Put your cursor into any of these fields to begin editing.

– You can highlight, cut, copy, paste, delete and type static text, as you would in a text editing program.

– You can also insert keywords into both the Subject and Body fields.

Next, enter keywords

Keywords, which appear in capital letters inside brackets, are placeholders for specific information that will appear in the actual email.

For example, the keyword [ALERT_NAME] in the default alert subject would be replaced with the name of our alert, “Example RA12E Internal Sensor Alert,” when the alert email is sent.

To enter a keyword:

1. Place your cursor where you’d like to insert the keyword.

2. Select the Insert Keyword button to open the Keywords window.

3. Select a keyword from the list to insert it into your template.

Finally, save your changes.
