Last week we published a few quick articles about how AVTECH made worldwide news.
Well, it was an AVTECH, but it wasn’t our AVTECH.
As we mentioned previously, there’s an AVTECH in Taiwan that manufactures CCTV cameras and DVR hardware, all of which are designed to be internet-accessible. Since both companies manufacture hardware that operates in the IoT (Internet of Things) space, and both companies offer some sort of camera in their product lines, sometimes there’s a bit of confusion between us. To be clear once again, there is no relationship between AVTECH Software and AVTECH Taiwan.
Unfortunately for the Taiwan-based AVTECH, a fairly large security flaw was found in a large number of their products last year. The security firm that discovered the flaw finally made it public after the Taiwan-based AVTECH did not respond to their inquiries about securing their devices. As a result, numerous articles from leading IT and security publications made the rounds, and caused some undue alarm from our customers and partners.
At this point in time it appears that the media rush has died down and our articles, along with inquiries to our sales and support teams, have helped reassure our customers that our products are secure.
To help avoid any future confusion between the Taiwan-based AVTECH, and the handful of other firms also named similarly to AVTECH Software, we thought we’d put together this quick summary of all the companies named similar to AVTECH Software that we are currently aware of.
AVTECH Software – We are the leading provider of environment monitoring solutions worldwide, headquartered in scenic Warren, RI. Since 1988, customers in over 180 countries have been using Room Alert to proactively monitor temperature, humidity, flood, power, smoke, and much more to protect their critical facilities and assets. Our GoToMyDevices cloud monitoring service and Device ManageR software work hand in hand with Room Alert to provide a fully comprehensive solution with unmatched value for businesses of all sizes.
AVTECH Taiwan – The *other* AVTECH mentioned above and in our previous articles who manufacture CCTV and DVR products. They tend to be the AVTECH we get the most inquiries about and recently started stylizing AVTECH the same way we do, in all caps.
Avtech Tyee – Based in Washington state, Avtech Tyee makes electronic systems in the aerospace industry.
Avtech Electrosystems – This particular Avtech makes pulse generators and testing equipment commonly found in laboratories. They’re headquartered in New York, and offer specialized products for testing environments.
Avtech Solutions – Avtech Solutions are based in Indiana, providing business consulting, staffing, and application development.
AVTECH Sweden – This company often also goes by AVTECH, and like Avtech Tyee work exclusively in the aerospace industry. This particular AVTECH offers a patented system that provides in-flight wind information to commercial aircraft, and recently inked a large partnership deal, landing them in the news as well.
Avtech Institute of Technology – This Avtech is based in New Jersey and specializes in IT and healthcare continuing education classes, with various campus locations located throughout that state.
It should be pointed out once again that we are not affiliated with any of the above firms and organizations. While we all share a similar name, that is as far as the commonality goes. AVTECH Software manufactures Room Alert here in the United States, and all of our software is developed, tested, and deployed thanks to our own internal staff based in Rhode Island.
We certainly hope that this fully clears up any questions over AVTECH Software and all of the other firms around the globe that share our name (or a variant of). Of course, if you have any further questions about Room Alert, GoToMyDevices, or Device ManageR we absolutely welcome you to contact us at any time. We’ll be happy to answer your questions and show you how Room Alert from AVTECH Software is environment monitoring made easy.
Note: The former GoToMyDevices online monitoring and management platform was migrated into RoomAlert.com in December 2017. For more information, please see our announcement article and FAQ.
