How To Create Alerts In Your RoomAlert.com Account (VIDEO)

You may create alerts for your Room Alert Monitor in your Room Alert Account by following the same basic workflow each time:

Trigger Alert when…

Device  Room Alert Monitor Name

Sensor  Sensor Name

Channel  Channel Name

is  in a certain state.

Then add actions to the alert that send:

  • Email Messages
  • SMS Messages
  • Email-to-SMS Messages
  • Push Notification (through the Room Alert App)
  • HTTP Posts

In the example below, we’ve created an alert that will trigger when…

Device  Example RA12E
Sensor  Internal Sen
Channel  Temperature
is  greater than | 80 | °F

When our alert triggers, it will send an email to the IT Manager.

Alert notifications are sent from Alerts@RoomAlert.com. Please be sure that no spam or junk filters prevent you from receiving emails from this address.


Follow the instructions in the tabs below to create an alert through your Room Alert Account:

Step 1: Open your Room Alert Account
  1. Log in to your account at RoomAlert.com.
  2. Select Alerts from the navigation bar to the left.
  3. Select New Alert to start the process.

Step 2: Make your Device... Sensor... Channel... is... choices.
Device…

First, select your Room Alert Monitor from the Select A Device drop-down list.

Sensor…

Once you’ve chosen your Room Alert, you’ll then see a drop-down list with all of the unit’s individual sensors. Select the specific sensor you wish to alert on.

Channel…

Once you’ve selected a sensor, you’ll see a drop-down list of the channels associated with that sensor. Select the channel you wish to alert on.

    • The available channel options for our internal sensor are Push Status and Temperature

    • Push Status would tell us if the sensor was no longer communicating with RoomAlert.com.

Next, set the threshold for your sensor. The fields that appear depend on the sensor and channel you’ve chosen. In our example, we have a comparison and value field.

    • In the comparison field, choose greater than or less than from the drop-down list.

    • In the value field, enter a number that makes sense for the scale you’re using. In our example, we are measuring temperature in Fahrenheit, so we’ve entered 80 (degrees Fahrenheit).

Step 3: Add an action to the alert.

1. One you’ve set your threshold, you’ll see the Then do this… section, where you can add an action to the alert.

2. Select +Add Action.

3. In the New Action window, first select your action type from the drop-down list.

4. The fields that appear next depend on the type of action you’ve chosen.

5. Select +Add Action to save the action. You action will now appear in the Then do this… section.

 

If your account has been upgraded to the Professional level or higher, you may repeat #2-5 to add additional actions to the alert.

Step 4: (Optional) Display additional sensors.

If your organization’s Room Alert Account has been upgraded to the Professional level or higher, you may add any additional sensor readings to an email or text message alert notification. For more information, please see, How To Add Additional Sensor Readings To Alert Notifications In Your RoomAlert.com Account.

Step 5: Save and view your alert.

1. Select Save Alert.

2. When you save your alert, it will bring you to the alert interface, where you can view:

Step 6: Test your action(s).

After you save your alert, it’s a good idea to test your actions. To do so:

1. Place your cursor over an action to pull up the delete, edit, and test icons.

2. Select the test icon.

3. This will open the Test Alert Action window.

4. Select Yes to proceed with the test.

    Start--> All Programs--> Accessories--> Command Prompt
  • Windows 10
    Start--> All Apps--> Windows System--> Command Prompt

To run Windows Command Prompt as an administrator:

  • Windows 7 & 8
    Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
  • Windows 10
    Right-click on Command Prompt, select More and then select Run as administrator.

If you are using this client, you should configure the general SNMPv3 Credentials, but leave the Read / Write SNMPv3 Credentials section blank.
