AVTECH is announcing that the Room Alert 32W monitor has reached End-of-Life, effective immediately.
Since its release in 2011, the Room Alert 32W has helped countless organizations across the world proactively monitor and protect their IT environments, data centers, facilities, and more. The Room Alert 32W was originally introduced as an upgrade to the Room Alert 26W, which was first offered in 2006.
The Room Alert 26W was introduced at a time when Wi-Fi services were still spotty and often unreliable in a commercial environment. By utilizing the ZigBee wireless standard, the Room Alert 26W and later Room Alert 32W offered extended wireless monitoring in many locations that would not have been accessible through then-available Wi-Fi service.
Over the past few years, Wi-Fi hardware and technology has advanced to the point where utilizing Wi-Fi in critical facilities has become reliable and commonplace. As a result, many Room Alert users are now opting to use the Room Alert 32E in combination with the Room Alert 3 Wi-Fi in order to extend their sensor and coverage range.
Due to the growth of the Room Alert 32E + Room Alert 3 Wi-Fi combination, and the strength of newer Wi-Fi networks and technology, we have made the decision to retire the Room Alert 32W model effective immediately. Original plans involved retiring this specific Room Alert in early 2018, however some recent larger orders and deployments of the Room Alert 32W by our users depleted our remaining inventory faster than we anticipated.
Along with the retirement of the Room Alert 32W, we are also retiring the WiSH and WiSPR wireless sensor hubs. Existing Room Alert 32W users who wish to expand their coverage should investigate purchasing the Room Alert 3 Wi-Fi, which can be combined with any of our Room Alert monitoring platforms or used on its own.
As with all our legacy Room Alert monitors, we will continue to offer firmware downloads and support for all organizations that are up-to-date on their support status with AVTECH through their Room Alert Account. We anticipate existing users continuing to rely on the Room Alert 32W monitor for their proactive environment monitoring needs for years to come.
