Our online Room Alert Account dashboard contains a number of features that make it easy for users to alert their teams to potential environment concerns, and collaborate together to resolve alert notifications.
One of the biggest collaborative features in Room Alert Account is the ability to notify multiple contacts at the same time when an alert is triggered. Not only can you alert multiple users, you can also alert them in multiple ways! To top it all off, when you’re setting up those multiple users, you can now test your alerts to make sure they’re being received by all of the recipients.
To help our users collaborate with their team members, alerting in Room Alert Account supports multiple recipients for users on the Professional tier or higher. It’s quick and easy to set up multiple recipients right from within the Room Alert Account dashboard. You can go right to an existing alert, or create a new one, and simply enter the details of the action that should be taken for alert notification.
Once you’ve finished adding that first action, simply click the Add Action button, and you can now enter another action. Users can continue to keep adding new actions until they’re sure that everyone who needs to be notified will be sent an alert notification. Most users configure actions to send email or text messages to staff who can respond to the alert, but others use the new HTTP Post action to send details about the alert to another application or ticket system.
Customers can now notify entire teams, as well as senior management or even automated applications, in the event of an alert notification. Or, they can opt to have different notifications alert different groups or employees who can best address the individual alerts.
For example, let’s say a customer has Room Alert monitoring their data center and general facilities. When their Room Alert detects the temperature rising inside the data center, the notification can go to their Network Operations group, as well as their senior management. If that same Room Alert detects temperature rising outside of the data center, the alert for that action can be sent to senior management and their facilities staff. If they have a Room Entry or Motion Sensor, a notification can be sent to senior management as well as their security company.
Bottom line, customers can now customize each alert to make sure the proper people are receiving them.
Along with multiple contacts per alert, Room Alert Account offers three different methods of notification as well.
Email – Alerts can be sent to any number of email addresses in order to send notification messages. With the popularity of smartphones, email access is sometimes just a hand’s length away for quick and easy access.
SMS – Room Alert Account natively supports SMS notification for all alerts! Users just need to input the phone number, along with the carrier, in order to have a condensed alert message sent to that recipient. This allows for instant notification, rather than relying on the recipient to check their email messages. We’re always adding in new carriers to help cover as many options as we can; if your carrier is not currently listed, just input the mobile number along with that carrier’s SMS to email domain (IE 5551234567@vtext.com for Verizon Wireless users).
HTTP Post – Adding in HTTP Post to our contact methods now allows Alerts to push data (in JSON format) to applications customers may be running for their own internal ticketing and tracking. While an email alert sent to the notification address of a ticketing system may trigger a ticket to be opened, an HTTP Post push can populate the ticket with exact information on the alert and situation.
By offering the ability to have multiple contacts and multiple methods, our customers now have the ability notify a larger number of contacts to ensure their Alerts are addressed immediately. The whole purpose to monitoring, logging, and reporting with Room Alert is to be able to spot potential issues immediately and prevent them from becoming big problems. With advanced alerting, Room Alert Account takes that one step further for our customers.
For more advanced alerting features, this article takes a deeper look into the Custom Alerts feature. Custom Alerts allow users to modify the alerts subjects and body text to meet whatever criteria they desire. Location information can be added, steps and instructions on addressing the alert can be provided, and customers can even have the alert sent in their local language! Given that we have customers in over 185 countries, adding that feature was important to us here at AVTECH.
