How To Export And Import Your Room Alert Manager Settings

The latest version of Room Alert Manager only supports same-version JSON imports.

You can only import a JSON file to Room Alert Manager v1.5.8, for example, if the file was originally exported from Room Alert Manager v1.5.8.

This behavior will be addressed in a future software release.

You may export your Room Alert Manager configuration to a single file, which you may keep as a backup of your settings, use as a troubleshooting tool, or use to copy your settings to a different Room Alert Manager installation.

For more information, please see the tabs below.

    • These settings are included in the export for informational purposes only. They cannot be imported into Room Alert Manager.

  • Discovery Settings (including a list of any manually discovered devices)
  • Email Settings, Firmware Update Settings, Device Data Settings, and SMS Modem Settings

Import your settings to a new Room Alert Manager installation

You may import settings from a previously saved JSON file* into Room Alert Manager. It’s important to note that some of your existing settings will be overwritten during the import process.

* Room Alert Manager only supports same-version JSON imports at this time.

The following settings get overwritten when you import a JSON file into Room Alert Manager:

  • Discovery Settings, Email Settings, Firmware Update Settings, Device Data Settings, and SMS Modem Settings

These settings get added to your existing configuration (without deleting your existing settings):

  • Users, Device Groups, Alerts, Actions, Schedules, Reports, and Pings
    • If the JSON file contains a user whose username is identical to one already in the system, then that user will not get imported.

Please follow these instructions to import your Room Alert Manager settings:

  1. Open Room Alert Manager in your web browser.
  2. In order to import Room Alert Manager’s settings, you must log in as an admin-level user.
  3. Select Settings –> Import/Export in the navigation bar to the left to open the Data Export/Import Settings page.

    • After you select the file, select Open.
  6. Then select Import.
