How To Configure Push To Room Alert Manager

Typically, you will not need to enable push to Room Alert Manager in your Room Alert monitor. However, if you are unable to discover your Room Alert monitor automatically or with the software’s manual discovery feature, you may find push to be the best fit.

How to configure “Push to Room Alert Manager”

To use Push to Room Alert Manager, there are settings to configure in both the Room Alert Monitor and the Room Alert Manager software. Please see the tabs below:
Configure your Room Alert Monitor

To configure your Room Alert monitor to push to the Room Alert Manager software, please follow these steps:

  1. Open your Room Alert Monitor’s web interface by typing its IP address directly into the address bar of your web browser.
  2. Select Settings in the navigation bar to the left.
  3. Select Advanced in the menu that appears below Settings.
  4. In the Advanced Settings page, locate the Room Alert Manager section.
*The options you see below will vary depending on the Room Alert model.
  5. In the Room Alert Manager section of the page:
    • Select Enable push to Room Alert Manager.
    • In Push Interval, you may leave the default, 1 minute, or choose a larger time interval from the drop-down menu.
    • (‘S’ models only) In Protocol, leave the default, HTTP.
    • In Server Host, enter the IP address or hostname of the computer that Room Alert Manager is installed on.
    • In Server Port, you may leave the default, 9393, unless you have changed Room Alert Manager’s HTTP port to another number.
    • (‘S’ models only) In Path, leave the default, “/api/v1/device-data/push.”
  6. Select Save Settings at the bottom of the page. Your Room Alert Monitor will automatically reboot and commit your changes.
Configure the Room Alert Manager software

When a Room Alert monitor pushes to the Room Alert Manager software, the software will automatically stop attempting to discover it with automatic discovery (UPD broadcast) or manual discovery (TCP scan).

  1. Open Room Alert Manager in your web browser.
  2. In order to access Room Alert Manager’s Discovery settings, you must log in as an admin-level user.
  3. Select Settings –> Discovery in the navigation bar to the left to open the Discovery Settings page.
  4. Then select the Push Discovery tab to open the Push Discovery Settings.
  5. Here, you’ll see a list of all devices discovered in Room Alert Manager by push discovery.
    • If you wish to remove a device from push discovery, click the ellipses beside it. You can then choose to Switch to Automatic Discovery or Manual Discovery.
    • If Room Alert Manager receives any additional sensor data pushes from the device, it will appear in this list again. (To prevent this, make sure the Push to Room Alert Manager feature has been disabled in the device’s web interface.)
  6. You may also edit the Missed Push Threshold from the default, 3, if you wish.
  7. When you’re done making changes, select Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

What triggers a push from your Room Alert monitor

This feature pushes sensor data to your installation of Room Alert Manager at scheduled intervals (as low as 1 minute) and under the following conditions:

  • When your unit first boots (and every time it reboots).
  • When an external digital sensor is first connected or disconnected.
  • When your unit’s internal or an external temperature sensor reading rises or falls by 2 whole degree Celsius.
  • When your unit’s internal or an external humidity sensor reading rises or falls by 5 percent relative humidity.
  • When any switch sensor on your unit changes state from open to closed (and vice versa).
  • When a Digital Active Power sensor reading changes from Power Detected to No Power Detected (and vice versa).
  • Room Alert S models only: When a Digital Extreme Temperature Sensor detects a fault.
  • When your unit’s built-in or an external analog sensor rises or falls by 0.25 volts.
  • When any Light Tower or relay is manually toggled on/off.
  • Room Alert 32 only: when the power status changes from Main Power to Battery Backup (and vice versa).
  • When a threshold you’ve set on the Room Alert Monitor’s Settings Sensors page is exceeded (and when that condition clears).
