Why Choose Room Alert to Monitor Data Center and Facility Temperature?

Data center monitoring has become an entire industry on its own over the last 20 years. Uptime, performance, and reliability are all critical to data centers, whether it’s a small local server room or a large multi-tenant facility.

Any number of environment factors can spell disaster for data centers and facilities, however temperature will always remain the top concern. Temperatures that are too high can cause fan failure, and shortly thereafter hard drive failure. Temperatures that are too low can cause condensation in the data center, which can then cause corrosion and failure of sensitive electronics.

Thankfully users in over 180 countries have trusted their data center temperature monitoring to Room Alert. They know that they will be immediately alerted if temperatures get too high (or too low), or if any other number of environment issues occur. Humidity, flood, power, smoke, and more are all issues along with temperature that can cause downtime in your data center, server room, or IT closet.

So, why should you choose AVTECH and Room Alert?

Nearly 30 years of industry experience

AVTECH has been helping clients with monitoring needs since 1988. Our staff’s wealth of experience has helped us to develop environment monitors that can fill any need, in any situation, for every budget.

We’ve harnessed that experience and focus it on offering the best products and software that we can. All of our Room Alert models are developed in house; likewise for our two monitoring software platforms, RoomAlert.com and Device ManageR. AVTECH employees all have a hand in fully developing and supporting every single product we offer to our users.

Three decades of being in business not only helps us develop and support our products, it also helps us offer the absolute best solution to each and every user that chooses Room Alert. At this point, we’ve seen nearly every single situation possible when it comes to facility types, locations, sizes, you name it. When a new organization approaches us, we are able to use the experiences we’ve had with other users to put together options that will fit their exact needs. There’s no “one size fits all” with Room Alert. We want to make sure each user that installs Room Alert has the best coverage for their data center or facility.

Developed, built, and supported in the USA

As noted above, AVTECH employees are fully engaged in the entire product process from start to finish. Part of that process includes writing and developing all of our firmware and software in house, and another part of that process involves the manufacturing of Room Alert and our sensors.

We decided years ago that we wanted to be able to take part in every step of the manufacturing process, and to effectively do so, we’d need to make sure all of our products were made in the USA. This way, we could be involved from start to finish, without needing to increase time to delivery due to shipping from various plants worldwide, or potentially running into issues that involved lengthy travel delays to resolve.

Based on some of the larger orders we tend to receive, having a US-based supply chain allows us to ramp up production quickly to meet demand. The ability to ship orders of hundreds (or even thousands) of units based on the customer’s timeline is a fulfillment “win” for all of us at AVTECH.

Having full control over our software and firmware allows us to test it thoroughly for compatibility and security. There have been a number of concerns recently over IoT (Internet of Things) devices that don’t affect Room Alert. Since all of our firmware and software is purpose-built, commonly used software tools that are subject to malware aren’t present in any of our devices.

All our employees are based in Rhode Island and Pennsylvania; emails are responded to quickly, and we pride ourselves on not having a support holding queue for users that call us with questions. We strive to provide the personal touch with all our customers, regardless of their issue, and not outsourcing any parts of our business plays a large role in that.

Leading-edge software and monitoring platforms included at no charge

All of our Room Alert monitors are fully compliant with many of the leading SNMP monitoring platforms used across organizations worldwide. However, for users that don’t use or need those larger software packages, we include both our local Device ManageR software and our web-based RoomAlert.com platform at no charge.

That’s right – both platforms are offered to every user completely free.

Device ManageR lets users fully monitor and manage their Room Alert monitors locally, in addition to providing a wealth of reporting and automation features. RoomAlert.com provides users with the ability to set alerts in the cloud, view monitor logs and reports via web browser, and even correspond with team members on open alerts directly from any internet-connected device.

Our users are given the option of using either platform, both platforms at the same time, or even opting to use their own SNMP monitoring software. We firmly believe in giving our users the ability to choose their monitoring options, and include our own free of charge. Users also have the option of upgrading their monitoring capabilities by subscribing to upgraded RoomAlert.com levels to cover even more devices and alerts, and certain upgraded levels of RoomAlert.com also offer free Device ManageR plugins, a $499 value.

Product development and expanded capabilities

Our engineering team is constantly looking for ways to innovate here at AVTECH. We always have new or enhanced sensors and monitors in development, including a new sensor set for release shortly that we’re certain will interest data centers and IT managers across the globe.

In addition to the upcoming sensor release, we also have multiple product refreshes currently in the works that will add capabilities to existing Room Alert models, and will also expand features that our users have been providing feedback on.

As we quickly approach our 30th anniversary, we’re very proud of everything we’ve accomplished so far. Many of those accomplishments are due to the relationships we’ve built with our users over the years, and the helpful feedback they’ve provided to us. Looking forward to our next 30 years has the entire AVTECH team excited about the ways we’ll be able to help users across the world expand their data center, IT, and facilities environment monitoring.

If you’re not one of our current users, we certainly hope that we will be able to help you proactively monitor your facilities in the very near future. Let us know what issues you might be facing when it comes to your data center monitoring, and we’ll be happy to let you know how Room Alert can help protect your organization.
