How To Configure A ‘Not Pushing’ Alert In Your RoomAlert.com Account

Not Pushing alerts replaced Inactive alerts at RoomAlert.com. If you previously had an Inactive alert saved in your account, it was automatically converted to a Not Pushing alert. Although the alert looks a little different, it does the same job.

By default, your Room Alert Monitor pushes sensor data to RoomAlert.com on a schedule of once per hour. Your Room Alert Monitor also pushes new data when it detects changing sensor readings.

You can set up alerts to notify you if your RoomAlert.com account stops receiving push data from a device or individual sensor. For more information, please select the tabs below.

What does 'Not Pushing' mean?

If your RoomAlert.com account stops receiving push data from your device, its status will change to Not Pushing. This means that your account is no longer receiving the most up-to-date sensor data from the device.

There are a number of factors that can cause your device to stop pushing to RoomAlert.com. To diagnose the issue, please see our Frequently Asked Question, How To Troubleshoot A Room Alert Monitor’s Sensor Data Pushes Not Getting Through To RoomAlert.com.

It’s also possible for an individual sensor to be listed as Not Pushing, even if the device it’s connected to is Pushing. This usually means that the sensor was physically disconnected from the Room Alert Monitor.

Types of 'Not Pushing' alerts

You can configure a ‘Not Pushing’ alert on your:

Device: to notify you if your RoomAlert.com account stops receiving all push data from your Room Alert Monitor.
Sensor: to notify you if your RoomAlert.com account stops receiving data for an individual sensor.

Device: We recommend setting up a Not Pushing alert on your Room Alert Monitor.

Why? If the device stops pushing, then your RoomAlert.com account will not receive any updated sensor data.

Sensors (Internal): It’s usually not necessary to set up Not Pushing alerts on your device’s internal sensors.

Why? As long as your device is pushing data to the account, all of its enabled internal sensors should be pushing too.
- Depending on the Room Alert model, these include the device’s internal digital sensors, internal analog sensors and switch sensors.

Sensors (External): It’s a good idea to set up Not Pushing alerts on external digital sensors.

Why? This way, you’ll know if your sensor becomes disconnected from the Room Alert Monitor.

Configuring a 'Not Pushing' alert

Set up your Not Pushing alert with the following conditions:

Choose “Device” or an individual sensor

Channel

Push Status

not pushing.

Viewing the alert dashboard

Once you save you new alert, its dashboard will look like this:

*Our Example Room Alert 32E is currently **Pushing**. Note that the threshold is **Not Pushing**.*

If the alert is triggered, it will look like this:

*Here, you can see that the Last Reading has changed to **Not Pushing**.*

Timing of the alert

Please note that your device or sensor will read as Not Pushing once it has missed two scheduled pushes to your RoomAlert.com account. Because scheduled pushes occur at one hour intervals after the last successful push, the alert will take approximately 2 hours to trigger.
