National Preparedness Month 2020 Is More Relevant Than Ever

September is National Preparedness Month, and 2020 has shown why preparing for the unexpected is so important. One of the best ways to prepare facilities and organizations is with Room Alert proactive environment monitoring because a massive 30% of downtime and damage is caused by environment-related factors. As Business Continuity leaders with over 32 years of experience, AVTECH offers superior environment monitoring with our Room Alert monitors, sensors, accessories and online account services. We understand preparedness by ensuring our users prevent and minimize costly downtime related to high temperature, humidity, water and mold damage and more.

Last year, we talked about National Preparedness Month and how vital it is to prepare your families, communities and businesses for all kinds of disasters or emergencies. This year, the theme of National Preparedness Month is “Disasters Don’t Wait. Make Your Plan Today.” This year’s theme puts an emphasis on the urgency and time-sensitive nature of disaster prevention and recovery. The message is to be proactive and expect the unexpected before you are caught off guard. The weekly themes for this month are:

  • Make A Plan
  • Build A Kit
  • Prepare For Disasters
  • Teach Youth About Preparedness

According to Ready.gov, “National Preparedness Month (NPM) is recognized each September to promote family and community disaster planning now and throughout the year. As our nation continues to respond to COVID-19, there is no better time to be involved this September.”

Never has the topic of preparedness been more key than it is in 2020. This year has been an extreme example of why business resilience and preparedness is so crucial. No one was planning for a pandemic to take over the entire world. A study by Gartner Business Continuity found that only 12% of organizations felt highly prepared for the impact of Coronavirus. Now is the time to reflect if you feel your organization falls within the overwhelming majority of 88% who, in some way, felt not fully prepared. COVID-19 has provided businesses, facilities and organizations with the perfect example of the extent of downtime and damage that can occur when you aren’t prepared. As Coronavirus showed us, sometimes negative events are out of your control. However, by being prepared, you can better manage unexpected circumstances. So even though you can’t control pandemics, severe weather, or power outages, you can control how prepared and proactive you are before disasters arise.

As leaders in the environment monitoring space, we offer the most advanced, secure and proactive environment monitoring with Room Alert. We’ve demonstrated our superior quality and service through the numerous awards we’ve won, such as recently receiving the Corporate Vision Magazine Best In Environment Monitoring Solutions 2020 Award. Our Room Alert brand is a key component to Preparedness, Business Continuity planning, Risk Management and all forms of planning that aim to increase uptime as much as possible. Our Room Alert monitors and sensors work by monitoring your environment for conditions such as temperature, humidity, power, water, smoke, fire and more. Then our Room Alert Account service comes in to log all sensor data and compare it to the preset, customizable thresholds you’ve set. If Room Alert detects that the temperature, for example, has met or exceeded the threshold you set in your data center, it will promptly notify you via email, text or HTTP post. Room Alert gives you the ability to be proactive and prepared even when you’re not physically present to monitor conditions yourself. By receiving a prompt text, you can respond quickly to address the situation and minimize damage before an irreversible disaster unfolds.

More recently, we’ve been furthering our security, data encryption and overall environment monitoring capabilities to provide our users with the most advanced, secure and highest-capacity products with the launch of our Room Alert PRO Line. This line was specifically engineered with higher security organizations in mind, such as banks, higher education institutions, government (military), telecom facilities and all other organizations that require ultimate security measures to protect sensitive information. For these types of organizations, downtime for even a few minutes can be extremely costly and damaging, making environment monitoring vital to longevity and success. Our Room Alert PRO Line is the perfect solution if you need to follow DFARS, NIST SP 800-171 and ISO/IEC 27000 best practices, support a large number of users, manage busy networks and more.

Room Alert protects and prepares your homes, businesses and facilities against costly environment-related downtime and damages. Without being prepared with the proper preventative tools, disaster can strike unexpectedly. Installing Room Alert now means you will have peace of mind tonight. The time to act was yesterday. Don’t wait until it’s too late!
