Product Spotlight: Room Alert 4E for Environment Monitoring

NOTICE – The Room Alert 4E/ER was End of Lifed in May 2021. Please see this article for more information.

In our last Product Spotlight, we focused on our Room Alert 3E, which is our smallest and most economical model. Its small size and affordable price makes it easy to deploy many Room Alert 3E units in all the hard to reach places in your facility. Today we’ll look at the Room Alert 4E, the next model up in the Room Alert family. The Room Alert 4E provides the same datacenter environment monitoring capabilities when it comes to temperature, humidity, power, flood, smoke and more while adding some additional features not found on the Room Alert 3E.

The Room Alert 4E is the smallest Room Alert that can be rack mounted (Room Alert 4ER). This provides an easy way for data centers or server rooms to secure the Room Alert 4E for optimal monitoring. When installed in a rack, we recommend putting it at the top of the rack where most of the heat rises and collects so you can get early warning of rising temperatures. Thanks to its size, it can be easily placed in many other locations monitoring is needed using the included wall mount bracket.AVTECH_Room_Alert_4E_With_Light_Tower

For locations that may need visual notification of any triggered alerts, the Room Alert 4E has a dedicated port that allows for the connection of our Light Tower w/Audio. The Light Tower can provide a visual and audio alert when an issue or an event occurs; this is extremely helpful in environments where people may need to be notified immediately of an alert and they don’t have direct access to a PC or mobile device. At AVTECH, we have a Light Tower mounted above the door of our data center, making it easy for anyone walking by to see if there is an issue that needs attention.

Available environment monitoring sensors

Just as with all other Room Alerts, the 4E has a built in digital temperature sensor that’s accurate to +/- 0.125 degrees. It also has ports for two additional digital sensors as well as one switch sensor. For example, one Room Alert 4E can monitor room temperature, humidity, flood, and air flow in any type of facility. Or, one Room Alert 4E could monitor room temperature, fluid temperature, outdoor temperature, and room entry.

Many of our Room Alerts monitor more than just environment factors; the Room Alert 4E can ping up to 8 local network devices to check for uptime. If any of the pings are interrupted, the Room Alert 4E can send an alert through email, SMS, light tower or audio alert, web page alert and more.

Room Alert and GoToMyDevices

The Room Alert 4E can be monitored using our GoToMyDevices platform, where users can easily set up alerts and get reports on sensor history; it can also be managed with our bundled Device ManageR software. Customers who may be using another SNMP application to monitor their network devices can opt to use that software as well, although customers with multiple Room Alerts at various locations may find many of the GoToMyDevices maps, reports and other options to be very helpful.

GoToMyDevices allows our Room Alert customers to manage their devices, reports, and alerting from anywhere at any time. Cloud-based temperature monitoring is a key component to business continuity for data centers, server rooms, cold storage facilities, medical facilities, and so much more. As noted above, just one Room Alert 4E can provide a wealth of environment monitoring to help protect your facility or critical assets.
